Many of us don’t remember a time when there wasn’t the Internet for us to use when doing any type of research. It was during those times that we would just have to take somebody’s word on it and jump in feet first, especially when it came to a personal recommendation. That is no longer the case.
Thanks to the Internet, we can now look up information about restaurants in any part of the world and we get an honest review by many people who may have been there in the past. In fact, it is possible to read those reviews in all their glory and good or bad, we get an overview of what to expect when we actually visit the restaurant for ourselves.
At times, this has led to some rather difficult problems, especially when a review doesn’t exactly go as it should. That is the case with the Iron Horse, located in New York City. When visiting that establishment, you may just want to keep your attitude on the outside, especially after you see what happened to the young woman who left a one star review. Admittedly, it can be devastating for any business to receive a bad review but fortunately, yelp gives the opportunity for the owner of the establishment to post a reply. That was the case with the owner of the Iron Horse, and his reply has gone viral.
When the young lady left the bad review on yelp, she was probably looking for a quiet place to have drinks with friends. Going to a dive bar would obviously be out of the question, as it is more likely for you to spill your drink and to have to yell across the table. That is the case with the Iron Horse, and such a dive gives you the opportunity to enjoy yourself in a unique way.
The woman left comments about the bad food and service but let’s face it, establishments like the Iron Horse aren’t exactly known for being an upscale dining experience.
Before the owner left feedback for the reviewer, he did a little review of her history on yelp. He found out that she is likely to visit a coffee spot or a quiet Café and visiting a dive bar is not typically on her radar. He pointed that fact out, along with the fact that most people recognize his bar is known for being loud.
“We have four stars on Yelp, but it’s not because our food will knock your socks off. The four stars are there because most of our customers come in looking for a fun time and to get away from the mundane of the every day, while enjoying a simple, decent meal at a low price.”
In the end, the owner of the Iron Horse provided a one star rating for the person who gave the review. He did say that she could increase her rating if she came and had a drink with him.
