13 Pictures That Show You The Devastating Power Of Hurricane Harvey

We often live our lives without really thinking about what is taking place elsewhere. It seems as if life is so stressful for many people that they really can’t see beyond the tip of their nose. From time to time, however, there is something that takes place and really shakes us to the core. When these things happen, it lets us know that our life may not be so difficult after all.

One of the events that recently took place is when Hurricane Harvey made its way through southeastern Texas. It touched many people throughout the countryside and in the city of Houston. The wind gusts and tornadoes did cause some problems but much of the damage occurred because of the devastating amount of rain that fell over the area. The impact of this particular storm is still being measured.

Taking a look at the statistics can really show you just how difficult this storm has been on those who live in the area. Because of the storm, up to nine days of rain fell across some parts of the area with 50 inches of rain being seen in localized areas. When you consider the fact that the average annual rainfall at Houston’s Bush Intercontinental Airport is less than 50 inches, it really is amazing. The winds were sustained at 130 mile an hour, which just made things even more difficult. It is an event that has touched millions of lives.
