The wedding day is one that is special in the lives of most young couples. It is a celebration of life and their relationship and they want everything to go perfectly. In fact, many couples will begin planning their wedding many months before it takes place. By the time it is the big day, they want everything to fall into place.
That was true of Christine Quinn, who had been planning her wedding and wanted to do something special. Many of us want something that truly stands out at our wedding. It is what we might call a memory maker, and Christine had the ultimate memory in mind. That is when she invited her 89 year old grandmother, Nana Betty, to be a bridesmaid in her wedding. She was not sorry when the day came.
As it turns out, Nana Betty was the life of the party and kept the entire wedding party in stitches. Not only did she have plenty of wisdom to impart in the funniest way, she also had plenty to say otherwise as well. Christine has always been close with her grandmother and this gave her the chance to do something truly special. Her Nana danced the night away and truly loved the experience. Quinn was told by her Nana Betty that you are only as old as you feel and she followed it up with, “I feel young today.”
“She asked me about 10 times, ‘Are you sure?’ and ‘Why would you want an old lady in your bridal party?’”
