What comes your mind when you think about John Bon Jovi, more than likely, you think about his rock ‘n roll career and you may even see him on stage, either because you were at a concert or because you have seen videos. The fact of the matter is, however, he is more than just somebody who is a musical genius, he is also a human being.
As part of his humanity, you might be surprised to learn that he is a devoted husband. For 27 years, he has been married to Dorothea, and they have enjoyed the majority of their life together. In fact, some people who are able to see behind the scenes have been quite surprised at just how much these two are inseparable.
The opposite is often considered to be true, particularly when somebody lives a life on the road. There is no doubt that John Bon Jovi has had his opportunities over the years to stray but that is where things are quite unusual. Those fans may have been interested in Bon Jovi but he is ready to set the matter straight and the fact of the matter is, he loves his wife and he has since they were high school sweethearts. During that time, they followed each other around from one show to another and they are still just as close today.
Bon Jovi had the following to say in an interview with people magazine:
“She’s the glue. I’m the crazy visionary with all kinds of things flying, and the seams are all splitting. She’s the one following me with the glue and the thread and needle, keeping it all together.”
Fortunately, his wife has a level head and it has really added a lot of structure to his rock ‘n roll career. They stuck together and even when problems did occur, they decided to work through them.
It was during the stop in Los Angeles, California, that these two decided to do something crazy. It happened in 1989 and they went to the Graceland wedding chapel in Las Vegas and eloped. Finally, their devotion to each other was complete.
Over the years, they have grown deeper in love with each other. Dorothea explained it this way to people magazine:
“I think it’s great they love the music. They love the band and are so loyal.”
Many women have chased after Bon Jovi but through it all, he is totally devoted to her.
They have four children together and have built a home to give back to those who are less fortunate. During the interview with people, Dorothea had the following to say about their bond:
“Somehow it works. I think because we grow at the same rate. We grew equally and not in opposite directions.”
Fame and fortune often drives a wedge between couples but that isn’t the case with this pair.
They may have a different life than many people their age but John said that he wouldn’t change things for the world.
We live in a time when marriage is not taken seriously but their marriage is about as perfect as you can get.
