This Is What Happens When A Photographer Suffers From Insomnia – 11 Awesome Pics Of Central Park

Many of us love to look at pictures and perhaps we have seen beautiful pictures of Central Park. Typically, they are full of lots and lots of people who are having a great time outdoors and enjoying some nature in the middle of the big city. If that is the only way that you have ever seen Central Park, however, you are really missing out.

Michael Massaia is a New Jersey-based photographer and he has a knack for catching Central Park at its best, but it isn’t during the middle of the day. Rather than taking pictures of people and sunshine, he stays up late at night and catches pictures of what takes place after the sun goes down. When you see Central Park from this perspective, you will have to admit that it is absolutely phenomenal.

These pictures did come at a cost, and it’s something that many of us may have dealt with in the past. The photographer developed insomnia and he had a very difficult time falling asleep. Like many of us, he didn’t wrestle with the problem in bed but he would go for a long walk to see if he could fall asleep naturally. He then decided that he would get productive during these long night hours so he started taking pictures of vacant landscapes using the faint illumination that was naturally there to light the scene. Since he lived close to the Big Apple, he eventually ended up in Central Park.

As he says, “The park appears to go through a period of metamorphosis during those late night/early morning hours.” We would have to agree. The pictures were taken on black and white film and it shows the beauty of the park in ways that you have never seen before.
