A Blind Bison Becomes Best Friends With A Young Cow

I’m sure that you have heard the expression that birds of a feather flock together. This is absolutely true, as we see it both in humans and in animals. At the same time, however, opposites do attract and we see the truthfulness of that statement as well. In fact, it is seen quite clearly in the following example that comes from the Lighthouse Farm Sanctuary in Oregon. They are accustomed to taking care of animals but when they took in a blind bison named Helen, she was a difficult case. She didn’t like being around other animals and even though she was safe, she still was nervous.

That all changed when a Jersey calf was born in February 2017. That little calf, named Oliver, began to explore the farm when he was old enough to stand on his own 2 feet. They may have seem strange to anyone who looked on, but he became friends with Helen and that friendship stuck. As a matter of fact, they continue to get along down to this day and their friendship is one that is inspirational. When it comes to being inseparable, these two animals are never very far away from each other. Oliver also had a very positive influence on Helen, and she began to gain some confidence.
