Each and every one of us lives a life that is probably too busy for our personal comfort level. It often leaves us multitasking and trying to get more done than what we have time to do. This sometimes hits the family hard and it can even lead to some rather uncomfortable and unfortunate situations. It was seen at a daycare center in Hockley, Texas and what they had to say has ruffled some feathers and caused some cheering as well.
It seems that the daycare center had enough of parents who were not using their manners properly when they came to pick up their children. They decided to do something about it and they posted a sign on the front door. Every mother saw it, including Juliana Farris Mazurkewicz, who came to pick her child up from the center. When she saw what was written, she was shocked but she also agreed with it wholeheartedly.
Julianna took a picture of the sign and shared it to her Facebook page. It really struck a chord and before long, it was commented, shared and seen by more than 1 million people and it only took a few days.
People tend to have their own opinion when it comes to what the sign had to say. Some supported it, others didn’t but they have to agree that there is some truth to it.
The sign read:
”You are picking up your child! GET OFF YOUR PHONE!!!!
Your child is happy to see you! Are you not happy to see your child?? We have seen children trying to hand their parents their work they completed and the parent is on the phone.
We have heard a child say, ‘Mommy, mommy, mommy…’ and the parent is paying more attention to their phone than their own child. It is appalling. Get off your phone!!”
People started sharing their thoughts almost immediately.
Juliana thought that the person who hung the sign was on the right track. She even said that she had her phone in her hand when she was reading the sign and she realized how true it was.
‘”I was a bit shocked, but I didn’t feel any negativity towards the daycare. I know that the staff has the best interests of the children in mind, even to the point where they are willing to offend the parent.”
Other people were upset with what the sign had to say.
‘”This is ridiculous. Who is anyone to tell a child’s parent not to use their phone? They might be working? Or have an emergency or anything else that’s none of their business.”
There is always going to be controversy in this life. Every parent will have their own opinion but if it helps one parent to pay attention to their children, it may have been worth the risk.
