It doesn’t matter how old you are, you probably are familiar with the theme song to The Lone Ranger. In reality, it is the William Tell overture and it is probably one of the most easily identifiable pieces of music ever written. We hear it under so many different circumstances that sometimes, we don’t really give it much thought. As you are about to see, however, there are times when even a well-known song may surprise you.
Students at the Timpanogos High School decided that they would do their own version of this traditional piece. Of course, many schools have done it through the years but this high school choir decided that they would stick a comedic spin on it. They didn’t do the typical rendition but wanted to set the audience on fire with laughter. You just have to see it to believe it.
By now, you probably already have the basic tune of the William Tell overture in your head but what you might not know is a little bit of history about the song. It is actually a part of the William Tell opera that was written in the early 1800s. After premiering in 1829, it ended up becoming the final opera of the writer, Gioachino Rossini. After writing this opera, he started doing more religious and sacred music as he retired. It wasn’t long before this song gained recognition within the musical industry and it is now used in many different ways around the world.
It is probably because the song is so recognizable that this students decided to give it their best shot. As it turns out, they performed a high-quality rendition of this piece but they did so with a comedic spin.
