High School Band Covers Barracuda And It Immediately Goes Viral Because It’s That Good

There are certain classic songs that we may love hearing when they play on the radio. One of those songs is Barracuda, and when we hear it playing, we may just find ourselves playing the air guitar. I hate to admit it but I have actually embarrassed myself sitting at a red light when the song came on! That doesn’t mean that I stopped enjoying it, I just try to be a little bit more discreet about when and where I decide to play the air guitar, especially when others are watching.

Nick Connors is also somebody who apparently enjoys the song but he does more than play the air guitar. He stepped up to the microphone at a high school graduation party and nobody could’ve expected what he was about to do. In fact, it even shocked his mother, because it was the first public performance for Nick and The Groove. That high school band, from Clearlake, Texas put on quite a performance.

Erich Niekamp was the guitarist who began playing the riff from Barracuda and Nick walked up to the microphone and waited for his turn. What happened next was not only amazing, it is pure viral gold.

You can watch them playing Barracuda in this video:

“None of us parents had heard them perform as a group,” said Nick’s mom Andie Connors, “we were all shocked at how fantastic they sounded for a first performance.”

As it turns out, many more were shocked over the performance. It made the front page of Reddit and the video has gone viral. It has over 450,000 views.

Their Facebook page says: “Nick and the Groove is a new Houston based up and coming band that consists of 5 friends ranging from 15-18 years of age. They cover a large spectrum of genres and are ready to perform for you… [with] Erich-guitar/vocals, Caeden-drums, Raine-keys/vocals, Emily-bass/vocals and Nick-lead vocals.”

Everyone was blown away by his singing style and the talent of the high school band. What many people struggle to deal with is the fact that they only practiced three times before this performance!

Many people have a lot to say about it.

The lead guitarist even jumped in and said hello!

It wasn’t long before other videos of the band began showing up. This included a cover of Amy Winehouse’s, Rehab:

What about purple rain?

They even did Keith urban’s Blues Ain’t Your Color:

They have played at a number of venues since the video went viral. Fans have begun to request more and asking them when they can expect to see more videos.

Three members of the band are still in high school so it is unclear what is going to happen next. If the original video is any indication, however, their future is bright.
