This summer is a fantastic time of the year and most of us enjoy getting outside and spending time in the sun. Of course, like anything in life, all good things must come to an end and summer is just about to turn that corner. We all realize that there is a lot of good that can come out of the winter as well but when you are a teacher, you may be panicking just a little bit because the colder weather is coming. It’s not the fact that you are going to have to shovel snow that has you on edge, it’s knowing that you are going to be spending a lot of time with kids in the classroom again.
Ask any teacher and they will tell you that there are good times and bad times to be had when you head back to the classroom in the fall. It gives you an opportunity to reconnect with the children, to share stories about the summer and perhaps even to enjoy a little bit of busy time that tends to take place on a daily basis. At the same time, however, you realize that the optimism may begin to fade after a while, especially as the first semester passes into the second. The good mood that you may feel at the beginning of the year quickly turns into something quite different.
When you are a teacher that is facing these types of problems, you have two different choices. You can either get frustrated over the situation, throw your hands in the air and give up or you can find a way to laugh about the situation a little. To be honest, looking at the bright side of things is often the best choice and when you need a proverbial shot in the arm, you might just find that laughter is the best medicine.
