When we are driving down the road, one of the things we see as we are passing by is signs. They are always there and at times, they catch our eye with bright graphics or perhaps a familiar logo. If you really stop to take a look, you might be surprised with exactly how many there are out there and it can even get overwhelming if you stop to pay attention to them all. That is why many of us just tend to filter them out and ignore them for the most part. Every once in a while, however, we see a sign that is worthy of our attention.
One of the reasons why we might pay attention to signs is because they have some humor included in them. I don’t know about you, but I do appreciate a good joke every once in a while. When a story has a humorous ending, it just makes my day and a little smile on my face can help to get my day started in the right direction. That isn’t always how I feel about a pun, however. They just seem to be one of those kinds of jokes that makes me roll my eyes but at times, they can make me snicker. It is a type of wordplay that is catchy, if not a little corny at times.
When you are passing through the Indian Hills Community in Colorado, however, you might just learn to appreciate a good pun. After all, they have a sign outside of the community center that is sure to catch your eye. It is a source of smiles for the community and, thanks to the internet, it is now making people smile all around the world. It started 5 years ago when Vince Rozmiarek, a local volunteer, spelled out an April fool’s joke on the sign and once those jokes caught on, it never stopped.
