Johnny Depp Poised For Victorious Comeback With First Big Screen Role in Over 3 Years

Johnny Depp fans anticipate his court victory will have even more to celebrate as the iconic actor is set to return to the big screen for the first time in over three years.

Depp was unofficially “canceled” following accusations made against him by Amber Heard, his actress ex-wife, in 2016.

Heard authored an op-ed piece in the Washington Post in which she accused the actor of domestic violence without explicitly naming him. Since that time, Depp’s career has crashed as he’s lost the role of Captain Jack Sparrow in Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean franchise along with the role of Gellert Grindelwald in the popular Fantastic Beasts franchise.

However, given new revelations calling Heard’s credibility into question, Depp fans began a petition demanding that Warner Bros. recast her role in the upcoming blockbuster Aquaman 2 film, set to release in 2023. Depp has filed a libel lawsuit against Heard, accusing her of fabricating her stories of abuse and accusing her of being the physical abuser. Depp told the jury about his difficulty finding work amid the allegations during his trial.

“It’s been six years of trying times,” he said of his career. “It’s pretty strange when one day you’re Cinderella, so to speak, then 0.6 seconds [later] you’re Quasimodo.”

Depp’s lost his role in Fantastic Beasts 3, which the studio recast, giving the role of Gellert Grindelwald to the veteran actor Mads Mikkelson.

After he was fired from the franchise, Depp took to Instagram, where he confirmed that Warner Bros. asked him to resign. However, he remained steadfast, reassuring fans that he was innocent of Heard’s allegations.

“My resolve remains strong and I intend to prove that the allegations against me are false,” he wrote in a statement.

Depp also testified in the trial that he was supposed to make $22.5 million to star in the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean film as Captain Jack Sparrow before Disney decided to cut ties with the actor over the unproven allegations.

Sadly, for the millions of fans hoping that Depp may see one day dawn the captain’s hat once again, it seems unlikely. The actor testified that even if Disney offered the role back to him during the trial, he would turn it down.

“…there was a deep and distinct sense of feeling betrayed by the people that I’ve worked hard for,” he said during a cross-examination with Heard’s lawyer.
