What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you think about dancing? Some people may think of some of the modern dances, some of which come and go so quickly we may not even get used to them before they are out of style. We also may think of some of the more classical dances, especially since we see them performed on television through talent shows such as Dancing With The Stars. The fact of the matter is, however, there are many relatively unknown dances that are not only fun, they are fantastic.
Clogging is one of those types of dances that is a lot of fun and many children are now learning that dance in studios across the United States. The modern version does not use wooden shoes and it isn’t exactly what you might see in a traditional Irish dance but clogging has grown into something that is beautiful and fantastic in its own right.
In order to keep the dance of clogging competitive and to keep track of the interest, the Clogging Champions of America was formed. The dancers who excel at this particular type of dance are able to perform in the Showdown of Champions. Those champions included Madison and Morgan, who were captured in the video below.
They came together to perform a fast-paced and enjoyable song, “Hit the Ground Runnin” by Keith Urban. It was performed at the Clogging Champions of America’s Showdown of Champions and it was held in Knoxville, Tennessee. To start the performance, the girls are wearing their hair in ponytails, which move perfectly with the movement of the dance. They are also wearing white dance pants with plaid shirts.
When they start the dance, you might think that it is going to be something slow but it isn’t long before they are twirling around each other with perfection. The moves are upbeat and perfectly timed. You can even hear the crowd getting into it as they continue their performance.
Check out the routine in this video below and you can see why it is an award-winning performance:
