Woman In Hospice Finally Gets Her Perfect Wedding Day 77-Years After Saying ‘I Do’

We often look to our wedding day as being the most important day of our life. Undoubtedly, Frankie King thought that it was a special day as well, but she didn’t have an extravagant wedding as many did.

You see, it was during World War II in 1944 that she got married to her fiancé. He had joined the military after proposing to her and got moved to another state.

During the time that he had a short leave, and after they were engaged for six months, they decided to get married before he went overseas. He went back to Iowa and married her but it was such a small town, they didn’t even have a place to buy a wedding gown.

After getting married, they continued to enjoy 77 years of marriage to each other. They have two children, four grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

They still live in Iowa and are now in their late 90s. A hospice nurse makes sure that they have what they need every day. That nurse came to Frankie on their 77th anniversary to ask for a photo from the day of their wedding.

The elderly woman admitted that they didn’t have a photographer that day so they didn’t have any pictures. That is when the nurse got busy, making sure that they would have their wedding photos after all.

She arranged a photoshoot with someone as well as getting a wedding dress donated to her. There was even someone who would play music for the event.

Fortunately, their daughter was also visiting the area when the new wedding took place. She was able to help her mother get dressed in the bedroom and was touched at how she looked in her wedding gown.

One big decision was whether to wear her glasses or not. After all, she didn’t have them on in her original wedding but her daughter said she was beautiful in them, and urged her to wear them.

As for the husband, he stood in his official US Air Force uniform, the same one that he married his bride in. He had a handkerchief covering his eyes and was able to get the first look at his bride. He just smiled from ear to ear when he saw her.

Even though they don’t have pictures of their original wedding, they now have pictures of something that they will treasure. They also have the memories of that special day that they can look back on for hopefully years to come.
