IQ tests aren’t a new thing. They’ve actually been around for a long time. The first interest in testing intelligence dates back thousands of years and was commissioned by a psychologist named Alfred Binet to identify which children might need assistance with their education. It was during the early 1900s that the government in France asked the doctor to help decide who needed the most help in school. The government had passed some laws that required that all children in the country attend schools, so they had to figure out a way to identify which ones would need special help.
Dr. Binet and his colleagues developed questions that focused on areas of intelligence not taught in schools, such as memory, attention, and problem-solving skills.
